The Benefits Of Air Mattresses By Eric Morris, Fri Dec 9th
Given the amount of time that we spend sleeping -- or trying tosleep -- it only makes sense to make our beds as comfortable aspossible. Today, we have many choices in mattresses, frompillow-top to firm. But what happens if your mattresspreferences change from day to day? Maybe an ultra-firm mattressworks for you sometimes, but other times you prefer a softerbed. For changeable comfort, an air mattress just might be yourbest bet. Air mattresses are equipped with inflatable, adjustablechambers. One such air mattress, the Sleep Number bed by SelectComfort, comes with two separate air chambers. A numbered remotedial controls each air chamber. The customer adjusts themattress to the desired firmness -- or softness -- with thetouch of a button. Since there are two chambers, each side ofthe bed can be controlled independently. This is ideal forpartners with different mattress preferences. LoungAir is offering a unique air mattress that converts to alounge, chair, or recliner. Another type of air mattress is thelow-cost, foldable variety. These inflatable mattresses aregreat for spare bedrooms, guest rooms, slumber parties,
and evencamping trips. Most of these air mattresses are simply put onthe floor. These mattresses can be found at bedding stores suchas Linens N Things and Bed, Bath & Beyond. They can also befound at department stores. At the time of this writing, WalMartwas offering a two-position air mattress on a frame for $34.Some outdoor and supplies stores also sell airmattresses, as well as many online stores.
One company, however, created a more comfortable alternative tothe on-the-floor air mattresses. The Raised AeroBed, by AeroProducts International, Inc., is an inflatable bed that standsabout two feet high. This type of air mattress can be inflatedwith a small electric pump.
